**Freeze Check-in, Week 2** | GBCNlove car

I successfully made it through two weeks so far of not stopping in the morning. And a quick fast food dinner would have been ideal one night this week we were running around, but we did not stop.

Today is an in-service day at school and nearly everyone will go out to lunch. I brought mine, but I'm anticipating they are going to let us go early today anyway due to the weather forecast.

My gas bill came in much, much higher than normal yesterday. I'm having heating issues in my house, so with the recent cold snap, I knew I was going to get hammered. My dad bought a few new registers and insulated light switch fixtures that will hopefully help. We just need to get them on.

I had to make some unplanned purchases, but they were needed. Like I am trying to go low carb and needed to buy walnut flour and an alternative sweetener. My cousin also gave me money to buy a chandelier from Restoration Hardware for Christmas and it was on sale so I bought it now. I had to pay for shipping.

Other than that I have been doing really well. No eating out or other purchases.

Doing well this week! No eating out at all this week on my budget. We had a work team lunch out yesterday, but that was on the company, so doesn't count. I know we are going out tomorrow night, but I don't think it'll be super expensive. It'll be going to listen to live jazz at a new place that just opened up. I don't intend on drinking - attempting dry January - but my husband may have a couple drinks. I hope we can do dinner at home before we go though. I think my credit card is feeling neglected right now

I ran in to the gas station twice this week for a fountain pop, so that was no good. But I have done well keeping to my meal plan so no unexpected eating expenses. I have also not done any online shopping, though I have definitely looked! I think I'm still doing well.

We had some unplanned car repair expenses, but I have money earmarked for that in savings so I'm not counting that as a fail.

Not going well this week.

Groceries and eating out are fine. But I bought a few maternity items since apparently I'm not getting any smaller at this point **Freeze Check-in, Week 2** | GBCNlove car So I bought a top, a dress, and a cardigan. I also bought a few baby outfits and then some workout DVDs which I might return.

I've got my eye on a rug at Target that's 30% off today and tomorrow. It was on my to-buy list so maybe I will pull the trigger.

OK week overall.

FAILS:

- Had our master bathroom toilet replaced after some on and off leaking issues

- Bought DD Minnie Mouse underwear at Target even though she is not close to being potty trained or ready to wear them

- Bought vitamins and dog poop bags from Amazon since I forgot to include them in my last S&S shipment (which means I didn't get the 20% Amazon family discount), BUT didn't throw any other unnecessary things in my cart along with it

- Unnecessary snacks from the work vending machine

WINS:

- Returned a pair of shoes to Target

- Dropped off some books and kitchenware at Goodwill

- Set up automatic deductions for DD's 529 account

- Eye exam today came back good, don't need glasses!

- Ate lunch out 1x

- Rebalanced my 401k company match out of my company's stock that is not doing so great

I keep half expecting an email from Amazon or Target making sure I'm still alive.

, January must be leaky toilet month, as we had a leaky toilet too. We had planned to replace all three in the house at some point and when we woke up to a more pronounced leak, we decided to do it all at once, since plumbers are costly per visit...$1400 unplanned. Mr. P has been OOT for work, so all his expenses are his company's problem. I've been home, no $ spent.

Doing pretty well this week. I stuck to only buying lunch at work once. I did buy one latte, but used a gift card from Christmas. Buying b-day gifts for DD was one of my exclusions, and I was pretty happy that two of the things she wanted were on clearance, so I saved about $10-$15. DH sold a set of used tires for $225 and we might sell our pool table for $75 (they have almost no resale value (unless it's a nice wood one, ours is pressboard)), so it was nice to be able to add that to our budget this month, especially since our credit card bill from last month is insane.

We didn’t spend much at all this week. We got dinner out (fast food) on Tuesday after picking up my suv from the shop $11. I went to the convenience store for a fountain drink on my way to a job interview today $1.55. DH got us breakfast at the other convenience store today $5 and my former CWs treated me to lunch out yesterday. I went slightly over budget at the grocery store yesterday but they were having a huge sale and I stocked up on a bunch of things that will even out over the coming weeks.
DH had dental work done today but that came from our HSA.
No purchases besides food, and I have avoided shopping online even though the urge to buy a few new things for my new job has hit.

This week was better than last week on limiting the small miscellaneous purchases (mostly by DH). I didn't stop at all for hot tea in the morning and only used a portion of my $20 weekly fun money to buy ice cream (on sale) for dinner with friends (I am saving my leftover fun money towards our girls overnight next month).

I did spend $167 on camping reservations for this summer (three weekends) but if we don't reserve now we won't get in at the state park that is halfway between us and my parents. We haven't gone camping in a few years and it was the one request DH made for summer plans.

We also purchased a four pack of LED can replacement covers/lights for $30 to start switching over the 32+ can lights in our house. Our plan is to buy two boxes per month and the hope is that we can sell all of the regular covers and lights to recoup the money we spend and we should see a savings on our electric bill.

We are eating through our pantry/freezer (I was able to combine our chest freezers the other day and unplug one - we have two because we usually buy 1/2 a cow and 1/2 a pig each year). We probably have another two weeks before we will have to go food shopping for more than necessities.

My mom gave us her credit card to use when we topped off our diesel truck to come home last weekend which is always appreciated.

We were supposed to stay overnight in Albany tomorrow after we see Monster Jam (my parents bought the tickets) but we decided to come home instead which was a $200+ savings (we were paying for two hotel rooms). Now it will only cost us lunch for the four of us.
